New beginnings …

As most of you will know, I have put green heart gifts on hold for the time being.

I have been busy working on a new qualification ~ my Level 3 forest school leader.

So apologies to those who have been asking where will be no new soaps and bit for the considerable future

Happy New Year ~ 2013

Wow! 2012 certainly whizzed by didn’t it?

The run up to Christmas was exceptionally busy and we sound out of so many products. The Christmas Holidays provided a much needed break, switching off and enjoying family time.

We were however, not completely sitting on on laurels, the little grey cells have been whirring away at Green Hearts HQ  thinking of new recipes, new products, new designs and tweaking all things soapy!

Our soaps have always been Palm oil free and they will absolutely always stay that way. (If you would like to know more about palm oil you can read here.) We have also decided to move back to only using pure essential oils of the highest quality and to develop delicious essential oil blends for our soap and bath products. Another decision we have made is to make more vegan friendly products, still luscious, luxurious and natural. More on this later …

Butterlicious Lip Balm

I have been trying out lip balm recipes and tweaking for a long time, over several months in fact. They seem easy enough to make, jsut a dab of this and a dab of that, but to get them just perfect, the right creamy texture, not grainy, with a good glide, not sticky or tacky not to hard and not too soft ~ it all takes time, and I’ve made a lot of trial lip balms in the process and also asked a lot of friends to test the out!

So now, I can finally introduce the new Purelena lip balms. Our lip balms have a lovely creamy texture and good glide across the lip and it has a nice feel, not sticky or heavy, but light and smooth. They contain loads of the gorgeous cocoa butter to really moisturise and help condition your lips, some jojoba oil which also help moisturise and nourish your lips, Some bees wax and a touch of vitamin e. This product feels really great on your lips, helping them to stay in tip top condition~  making soft and kissable lips.

Each 4.5g tube is priced at £2.75

Watch out for more gorgeous flavours coming soon!

Introducing Orange Cream ~ with Organic Shea Butter

Here is a new reworking of a soap I first made last year. I have tweaked the essential oil blend, It has lots of the delicious sweet orange, mandarin, may-chang and a little amyris to round it off. It smells divine! It has also had a complete restyle and a new name too!

So here is ~ Orange Cream

It has lashings of organic shea butter, and lots of skin loving oils like olive, castor and avocado. It also has a tiny amount of tussah or wild harvested  silk. This is humanely collected when the cocoons are empty. Using silk adds a lovely softness to the lather, something you must try!

The gorgeous layers in this soap were made using uncoloured soap, soap coloured with paprika and soap coloured with yellow clay. What do you think?

It will be ready for sale around the 5th April

Luxury Handamde Soap ~ Sensual Patchouli

This is a remake of luxury handmade soap ~ Patchouli Ylang. 2012 sees a new look and a new name, much more feminine and girly.

This soap has swirls of uncoloured soap with added blue poppy seeds and soap coloured with pink clay. The soap contains lashing of organic and fair trade shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, castor oil and avocado oil, plus a very special ingredient ~ a little silk ~ humanely harvested of course. The addition of silk has definitely added an that extra bit of silky luxury to our soaps.

Valentines Day is coming, here are some inspired words of love

This is a different kind of post today,  as the season of ‘love’ is almost upon us, I have found some lovely words about love to share with you.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
-Helen Keller

This is probably my favourite, quite lovely!

I find it quite strange, all this love for just 1 day,  if you really love someone, then shouldn’t we show our love and gratitude and respect on a daily basis. Not, simply because its the 14th of February and not because we feel we ought to!  Too often we take our partners for granted, overlooked in the hustle and bustle of our busy daily lives.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
- Lao Tzu

But also, our families, our children. I like to comment on the little things they do that are cute or kind or special in hope they realise just how special they are to me and of course I frequently tell them how much I love them. When they are sleeping, I whisper gently to them telling them how special they are.

(Here are my gorgeous munchkins)

Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love.
– Leo Tolstoy

Why not take a moment to consider what you have, who you love and whether you’ve told them lately …..

My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.
- William Shakespeare, Romeo and Julie

and the last love quote for you….

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
– Pablo Neruda, “Love Sonnet XVII”

I hope you enjoyed reading these, please do feel free to comment on the leave any you you favourite ‘love quotes’ or words which are special to you.
